Courses offered
Plant Developmental Biology lecture series and research module with theory and practical (Master´s level WS)

Concepts in organ formation, seedling development and light responses, regulation of plant shoot architecture, origin of leaves and flowers, vegetative phase change and flowering time, plant developmental plasticity in response to the environment, abiotic stress responses, adaptive features of amphibious plants – heterophylly.
Cells to Organs (as a part of the Plant Cell Biology course with Prof. Dr Peter Nick)(Master´s and bachelor´s levels WS)

Basics of tissue and organ development, history of leaf development, plant environmental plasticity, developmental and metabolic adaptations in the heterophylly plant model
Hygrophila difformis
Model Organisms

Lectures on Hygrophila difformis as an amphibious heterophylly model; Bryophyte models; plant models in light signalling (Bachelor´s-level lectures WS in German)
Microscopy Practical Course for Chemistry students (SS)

A practical course (provided with sufficient theoretical background) for chemistry students as a part of the Chemical Biology module offered during SS
Vernetzungsseminar

An interdisciplinary seminar series in developmental biology designed to foster collaboration across diverse branches of biology and to bring together various faculty members in biology to promote critical thinking and the development of novel hypotheses among master’s level students
Karlsruhe School of Optics and Photonics (KSOP) lecture on light signalling (WS)

An interdisciplinary lecture series for master’s level
physics students, aimed at exploring the role of light signalling in organismal development. The course emphasises the integration of physical and biological perspectives on light and optics
Imaging at the Department of Molecular Cell Biology, JKIP, KIT
Our laboratory is equipped with a Zeiss Observer Z1 microscope featuring a Yokogawa spinning-disk confocal system, as well as a Zeiss Axio Imager Z1 equipped with ApoTome technology. In addition, lab members have access to a Zeiss Axio Zoom microscope located in the Erhardt Lab (4th floor).
If you would like an introduction to any of these microscopy platforms, assistance with experimental planning, or support with image processing and quantitative data analysis, please contact Jathish Ponnu
Light microscopy center, Campus South, KIT
We are currently working towards establishing a central imaging facility at Campus South for students and scientists within Division I: Biology, Chemistry, and Process Engineering. As plans progress, this part will be updated with the latest information and developments.
Lab inventory management
Laboratory inventories, including plasmids, glycerol stocks, chemicals, oligonucleotides, antibodies, and other research resources, are managed through LabSuit. Access details and usage instructions are provided to new lab members upon joining the laboratory.
